F.A.Q.

This is the Frequently Asked Questions section with questions about promo cd's and of course the answers.

What is a promotional CD?

  • A promotional CD, short "promo", is released by the holder of the rights for promotional reasons.
A promo CD was never sold officially on the market. Therefore on each CD you can find the phrase "Not For Sale".
A promo CD was never re-printed and is only for a short time on the market. This makes them valueable.

Are there any fake promo's ?

  • Unfortunally yes, there are a lot of fake (copies) and the problem is that it is difficult to find that out ! Be careful on buying "promos" from the far east. Most of them are not regular made.

There are also stickerpromo's, but are they real ?

  • Yes , they are real but not really collectable. Because it's a normal release with a sticker over the barcode,  sometimes with a hole punched through the barcode.

Generally we do not list sticker promos here.

Why are so few CDs from Japan in the list?

  • From each Japan CD exists a promo. You can identify these CDs on the word "Sample" around the CD hole.
Even though these CDs are collectable, it is too much - even for us - to list all.

  • The same applies for other countries, such as Agentina.
In Argentina most CDs were re-designed (stamped) as promo.

Because of the mass we don't list re-designed standard CDs from Japan and Argentina.
